Sketching

We have been looking at the sun, moon and shadows. We know how shadows are formed and why they change. We had fun taking photos of them.

We are learing to:

Observe a photo carefully
Use both fast and slow techniques

Traction Man is here

We are reading a book in class at the moment called "Tracton man is here" by Mini Grey.

" With an action outfit for every occasion, Traction Man patrols the house. He is never less than stylishly turned out and expertly accessorised. He is the last word in heroic fashion flair - until, that is, the day that he is presented with an all-in-one knitted green romper suit."

We are also learning to sing the Traction Man song.

There was a Toy called Traction Man
(To the tune of there was a princess long ago)

There was a toy called Traction Man, Traction Man,Traction Man, there was a toy called Traction Man long, long ago.

He had a pet called Scrubbing Brush,Scrubbing Brush,Scrubbing Brush. He had a pet called Scrubbing Brush long, long ago.

The Poisonous Dishcloth came along, came along, came along, the Poisonous Dishcloth came along long, long ago.

Scrubbing Brush saved the day, saved the day, saved the day, Scrubbing Brush saved the day long, long ago.

He didn't like his Romper Suit, Romper Suit, Romper Suit, he didn't like his Romper Suit long, long ago.

They had a very busy day, busy day, busy day, they had a very busy day long, long ago.

School Triathlon

One of the students from room 13 took part in the Nayland Primary School Triathlon today. He is part of the Nayland Primary Weet-Bix TRYathlon school team, which unfortunately wasn’t able to race due to the weather last weekend. The rest of the class got to cheer him on from the side-lines and enjoyed an afternoon break from class.
But great news! The real Weet-Bix TRYathlon is back on and will be run on Sunday the 30th.

Wooden spoon Masterpieces

Last week one of the children brought in her entry for the Wooden Spoon Café, great spoon decorating competition. She had made her spoon into a Kiwi bird. We all thought it was fabulous and decided that because next week at school was Wow Week - Recycled Creations we should get creative and make some ourselves.

So this week the children have been very busy creating spoon masterpieces. The first thing they had to do was think about what they would like to create with their wooden spoons. This was followed by putting their ideas down on paper (the design process).

Then this Friday the children spent the day creating their wooden spoon masterpieces. Wow, did they all turn out amazingly.

Next week one of our parents from the class is taking all of them down to the Wooden Spoon Café in Richmond where they will be displayed on the wall. The judging will take place on the 22nd of March by celebrity judges Loz and Tom.
