Hoop Huts
Today for PE with Nicole we made Hoop Huts. We were in teams and we had to make the hut and then get our whole team through the hut without knocking it down! It was challenging working within a group and also building the huts, however we did a great job!
Next week we are looking at being blind folded and maybe making more than one storey on our hut!

Pippy Visited Our Class
We were so lucky today to have Pippy the turtle visit our class! We found out from Sky and her mum that Pippy is 7 months old, they got her from Westport and that she will grow as big as her environment allows. Pippy was not shy and moved around our carpet happily. We got to hold Pippy and her claws felt a little sharp.

Speeches
We have been working really hard on our speeches. We wrote our speeches at school and then we had a few days to practise them at home before presenting them in class. Our speeches have all been awesome! The children who got pulled out first got to record their speech as a podcast. We are yet to find out who our two class winners are who will be going into the syndicate final.
Listen to Jadan and Coopers speeches!

Gold Medal Comes To Nayland!!
We were very privileged today to have Jo Edwards, New Zealand Lawn Bowler come to our class! We were allowed to hold her gold medal and ask her some questions.
Did you know that Jo has been bowling for 22 years and that she used to play soccer for NZ?
Jo has won about 20 medals from Lawn Bowls outside NZ.
Thanks Jo for coming to visit us, it was so super special! Thanks to the Le Cheminant family for sorting it out for us!

Jadan's Poem
During reading time Jadan had read a poem about a naughty rabbit chewing things. Together we started another poem and Jadan finished it. Here it is....
Puppy Dog
Staying at home all alone
poor wee puppy dog
chewing a bone
chewing a hole in my net
has cut off the power to the TV set!

Limericks
We have begun looking at Limericks. We know that they rhyme, have a rhythm and have one subject usually a person or an animal.
There once was a boy called Jake
who liked to put bugs in his cake
he shared them with his sister
who came out in one big blister
then she chased him all the way to the lake.
Check out the link to limericks under learning links!

Sketching
We have been looking at the sun, moon and shadows. We know how shadows are formed and why they change. We had fun taking photos of them.
We are learing to:
Observe a photo carefully
Use both fast and slow techniques
